The first trailer has arrived for The Judge, in which Robert Downey Junior plays a hotshot lawyer called back to his sleepy home town to bury his recently deceased mother.
What complicates things is that his estranged father, town judge Robert Duvall, just so happens to find himself in the frame for murder, and needing a lawyer.
So begins the case of both men's lives, which just might help to bring them closer together in the process…

While there does seem to be a slight air of schmaltz to this one, Downey's familiarly acerbic persona should help cut through that, while the supporting cast is absolutely top notch.
Co-starring Billy Bob Thornton, Vera Farmiga and Melissa Leo, The Judge will open in the UK on 17 October 2014.
