Max Irons and Sam Claflin star in first trailer for The Riot Club: watch now

The first trailer has arrived online for The Riot Club, Lone Scherfig's big-screen adaptation of Laura Wade's critically-acclaimed play, Posh.

The plot follows a pair of Oxford University freshmen attempting to infiltrate the elite society from which the film takes its name, an organisation inspired by Boris and Dave's famous Bullingdon Club.

However, boys will be boys, and these boys quite clearly don't know when to stop… particularly when drinking and carousing spills over into serious violence.

Take a look at the new trailer, below…

With its chiselled cast of hot young British talent, it looks like Scherfig's follow-up to An Education and One Day will be another star-making vehicle, with Max Irons, Douglas Booth and Sam Claflin all turning in magnetic performances.

Co-starring Natalie Dormer, Jessica Brown Findlay and Holliday Grainger, The Riot Club will open in the UK on 19 September 2014.
