In the UK and around the world

Despite the announcement of extra shows, there are still many out there who were frustrated that they couldn’t get tickets to see the Monty Python team reunite for Monty Python Live (mostly) at the O2 Arena. There’s good news today, as Picturehouse Entertainment had grabbed the rights to screen the show’s July 20 final date.

And in addition to the 450 screens planned for the UK screening, 1,500 film theatres across the world are being reserved for the event. The show will feature the five surviving Pythons – John Cleese, Michael Palin, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam – performing a mixture of classic sketches, songs and new material with the usual added element of video screens.

"Thanks to the wonderful invention of moving pictures, The Last Night of Monty Python is coming to a cinema near you. Join the crowd live from London’s O2 in a final weepy, hilarious, uproarious, outrageous, farewell to the five remaining Pythons as they head for The Old Jokes Home... On the big screen, in HD," said the gang - listing their combined age as "just 357" in a statement.

Exact details of the screens will be released soon, but at least we know that more people will be able to experience the Pythons live. Well, mostly. For more on the reunion, check out our original report here.
