In a future dystopia where emotions are controlled with inoculations and coupling is strictly prohibited, two young illustrators (Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult) defy societal laws by beginning a secret love affair. When a "cure" for all human emotion is invented, the couple must plot a way to escape the totalitarian state.
